Among the streets of Faenza, Yuki Tsunoda teaches us all a lesson

Immagine
To those who from their homes complain about climate change, about the lack of competence of the government, the regions, the municipalities. To those who from their couches say ''every year the same story'' and those who (including a Red Bull mechanic at the centre of controversy in these hours) underestimate the gravity of this tragedy. To everyone, including us, Yuki Tsunoda's is a lesson not to be forgotten. We like blame, rebuke, complain. For every tragedy, every disaster and every drama we like to find someone to shift the blame onto, halving the anguish and increasing the anger. That's how it has always been and that's how it is again this time, while the heart of Italy still struggles to re-emerge from the high water it has been swept away by. Emilia Romagna and its people roll up their sleeves and dig, swim, look for impossible solutions, mourn for the dead, the missing, the injured. Houses that no longer exist, memories lost inside flooded cupbo...

At times the second is not the first of the losers

Charles Leclerc breathes pure oxygen on the night of Abu Dhabi, conquering a second place in the drivers' championship with anger and strength that weighs like promise, worth, and newfound hope The heightened emotionality of Charles Leclerc takes the form of heavy air, invisible yet vivid, easy to notice in its cumbersome presence. It hangs on his chest and runs through his large, sincere eyes, revealing with gestures, even before words, that the stake reached a higher level. From Interlagos to Abu Dhabi, the weight of this presence came to bear, giving us back a Leclerc who, at the end of an emotional rollercoaster of a season, found something to fight for. Not the world championship, which he believed in until data, results and points forced him to stop. But a second place in the drivers' championship that is worth the weight of a successfully harvested seed, of a loud declaration: I matter, I am, I can . Above me only Max Verstappen: he who is great, he who has a tremendous ...

Juventus: two sides of one team

Immagine
8/01/2023 These days when talking about Juventus it is necessary to clarify whether you are talking about the team's football performance or the administrative and bureaucratic situation. In theory, the team is one , yet these aspects could not be further apart. At the end of 2022 came the news of the resignation of the entire Board of Directors and from there it was all very confusing, who would manage the team after Andrea Agnelli? Who would replace Pavel Nedved? And so on... But in the midst of this chaos what makes the least noise is the team's performance. Because if the Vecchia Signora , deprived of its best players for most of the matches played, appears discontinuous and confused without a real game strategy, it continues to gain points. After the victory against Udinese, Juve have now won eight consecutive matches, and moreover with an untouched net.  On the field they struggle, they have few opportunities and hardly ever take advantage of them, they always take risks...

The expectations that cloud our gaze: Tokyo 2020

There was a time when competing at an Elite Level for the Italian team of artistic gymnastics was enough. When being part of the Team Final was all the fans would ask for. When watching gymnasts doing their routines properly from start to finish was our biggest accomplishment.  Then something changed.  Expectations changed because the level of our athletes increased.  At the 2012 London Olympics, the Italian women's national team reached the team final. Do you know when was the last time before that? In 1960. The result achieved in the final by our girls ( seventh ) was the best in a long time. We were happy and we knew it.  But then came a wave of terrific girls, who even as children promised medals and dreams. And no, they did not let us down, no matter what the newspapers might say, no matter what expectations might whisper in our ears. Le Fate have not let anyone down.  Apart from the results at the European and World Championships which I have already...

Charles Leclerc: There is life beyond the track

About fashion: 'It's how I express myself without speaking', music: 'I play the piano. I compose my own songs', and his passion for flying: 'And to think that flying used to scare me.' The vice world champion reveals who he is away from Ferrari. Fashion as a manifesto. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, Formula 1's Mister Pole Position in 2019 and 2022, is the perfect testimonial. Just look at the pictures in this photo shoot, taken over the festive season at the Maranello headquarters, where the Monegasque driver arrived by helicopter directly from the ski slopes. In addition to his skills behind the wheel, for which he is considered one of the greatest talents out there, is that angel face with a restless expression that makes him look vaguely like James Dean and breaks the hearts of the teenage girls. Leclerc, what is fashion for you? A way of expressing myself without speaking. I understood this when I started to travel all over the world, thanks to For...

2023 F1: Let's meet the new (and old) additions to the grid

Immagine
The 2023 Formula 1 season is upon us, and like every year, there are new (and old) faces on the grid. Let's discover them together: Surely you are aware of Oscar Piastri 's arrival at McLaren. His was perhaps the most discussed name during the Silly Season . Officially announced in Alpine, the driver personally denied on social media and then signed with McLaren, despite the fact that shortly before Daniel Ricciardo had confirmed his permanence in the team for at least another season (he had a contract expiring in 2024). Despite all the circus, it is not surprising that the Canadian driver is now on the grid after his exploits in the minor categories. In 2020, with Prema, he won the Formula 3 championship as a Rookie and in 2021 he repeated himself by winning the Formula 2 championship. An accomplishment previously achieved only by Charles Leclerc and George Russell . It was perhaps expected that someone would find space for this young talent as early as the 2022 season, but in...
